Deathly Podium

According to International Amnesty the USA stays in the third place in the ranking of legal executions with it's 65 killings. Only China (726) adn Iran (108) have killed more people. It's at least curious that the only two occidental countries that still apply Death Penalty are Cuba and the USA.
When we review death penalty history in the USA we find that 113 people who were at first declared guilty and sentenced to DEATH were innocent (strictly not-guilty) in the past 31 years. These people at least were freed, but it can give us an idea of how many inocent people has been executed in the name of justice.
That's why the US deserves this bloody bronze medal.

Why do I need a password if I have a phone?

According to what this gadget's homepage say, it would be possible to buy bus tickets (the Spotcode in the pic) or even remotely control some of our domotic electronic devices at home. It uses multimedia handy cameras to recognise a 2D coded symbol, letting us do what that SpotCode allows to.
They show us some examples of use both in Bluetooth or GSM/GPRS mode.
[Listening: 80s v. housey - mr. blair - (45:30)]

Edit: Lurking around for examples of this technology I have discovered that the 2D code used depends on a third company Bango

Sometimes jokes are disgusting

What's the point of this? I cannot find anything funny in what these guys are doing. Why would someone make a parody of the tortures at Abu Graib prison. Judge yourself:

Virii writers created the first virus for 64bit systems (though it's also capable to infect 32bit systems). The name of this new electronic pet is Rugrat.

Looking at this page you could believe that women's handies most important feature is the mirror. It's funny to see how technology can be presented in a Cosmopolitan way.

500 MD == 1 iPod || Hello iPod, GoodBye MD
Hello iPod
It seems Apple is not going to give the portable mp3 market to Sony for free. Their Japanese site clearly shows it's strategy.
Apple publicists only needed a couple of words to make all the campaign Goodbye MD.

Stats give us the idea at a glance.
And NO, the English version of Apple's home doesn't show any of these ads

I have been thinking on various ways to improve a little bit this weblog's appearance and it's browsability and I have wonder how the different browsers handle it. Doing a search for internet browsers I have come to a web that offers this as an online service. iCapture lets us see how Safari 1.2 handles it. Not far from that page I found another service where I could test it in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox 0.8 and Opera 7.23.
More than a 99% of the people who will ever browse this blog will use one of the these, but I have also done some tests in OffbyOne, Lynx on a remote shell, Lynx for w32 and even with Winamp.

Last but not least, I have captured a IOD-4 screen. Nice, isn't it?

You're mad! Also, the templates blogger ships with are bound to look fine in most browsers, they're made by blogger!

However, if you don't like it, you can code your own one in HTML.

Don't drink too much soda or...

It sounds like a joke but it's as real as beer. A group of German mothers have joined under the name MAPSU because they do not want to clean their male children bathroom. Medical studies say that urine gets too sticky and degrades (with the odour it carries) faster due to the high sugar concentration it has, probably caused for drinking too much hicarb soda. The solution they have found is that bathrooms are kept cleaner if they pee sitting.
Now I say you Mapsu mothers, why don't you better try to give water or milk to your children instead of letting them drink so much soda?

It seems Singapore has lifted the ban on chewing gum. Maybe they have been pressed by the gum removal companies that were missing the 150M pounds they earn each year in the UK cleaning or they just want to place celebrity targets like they did in London.

Have you ever got lost while browsing? Wish you had a map of the whole internet? Well, there are several 'maps' out there. Don't expect anything from them but understanding how the net is distributed and how it evolves.

We can find it in 3D, showing us the conections among countries,
Maybe you want to see how it is in Thailand or in North America
And YES, they also have internet in Africa
And you can even buy a poster, or other goodies
There are other representations in this gallery and if you want to go deeper into internet's topology representations you should learn some Cybergeography

I'm pretty sure you saw those Rolling Stones like mouth urinaries Virgin tried to mount on their planes. Those were not the only original ones, several designers around the globe are trying to convert our bathrooms into musseums.

Bathroom Mania is a Dutch company that have some proposals, but we can also take bathroom design as a joke like some others do.

Googlebombing the Sgae Posted by Hello

Googlebombing?

Everybody is doing it, so why not helping them?
Open Google and do a search for the word "ladrones" (thieves in Spanish) click then the lucky button, the result is as funny as true. It redirects your browser to the official web of the Sgae (Spanish RIAA)

As you may have guessed it's not the only googlebomb, so I'm copying some of this curious searches for you:

"encontrar un trabajo digno con un sueldo decente" (findind a decent and well paid job)
"miserable failure"
"Buffone
"Aznar"

And yes, it also works with the image search Google offers us -> Facce da culo" shows us a nice pic of the Italian prime minister.

You can find more information about this in several media, from weblogs like the great Boing-Boing to Internet's Wikipedia

Edit: Another great weblog talking about it Spitting-Image

Here begins this weblog

Everybody ask me why do I want to make a weblog if we can browse others like Spitting-Image, Boing-Boing or Metafilter in which we can find almost everything we want. The answer is simple, my long term temporal memory is as bad as it can be, so whenever I want to review a post I saw in a blog I usually have to browse hundreds of pages before finding it, I thought having my own scrapbook could simplify this tedious job a little.

Enjoy this and comment every news you want to as there's no need to register for making a comment.
